Switched to HDMI, very strage.

Hello, I own a Hanspree 23" monitor which is capable of HDMI and VGA input. My VGA cable finally gave out, so I ordered an HDMI to DVI cable (I have a GTX 260 which doesn't have HDMI). Now there is a very strange problem. The whites seem washed out, and the blacks appear grey. I had absolutely no problem over VGA. I've been attempting to fix it by adjusting the settings in the Nvidia control panel, but the problem still exists. This problem is about to drive me crazy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you considered that either the HDMI cable or adapter may be bad? Or even that the HDMI port on the monitor is defective?

To save a little money, I'd hit Monoprice.com and order a new HDMI cable, adapter, and even a VGA cable as a backup. Never made use of it, but Monoprice appears to have a pretty liberal return policy with an advertised no restocking fee. You probably eat return shipping costs, but not a bad deal overall IMO.

That was one of the first things I considered. I took my monitor into my living room and plugged it into my home theater PC. It worked like a charm. I'm probably just gonna order a new cable. I suppose I should have expected such from such a cheap cable ($1).
